INLEIDING:
Hierdie dokument het ten doel om ‘n strategie daar te stel waarvolgens alle aspekte wat met dissipline verband hou, hanteer sal word.
Hoërskool Bekker was nog altyd bekend as ‘n skool wat gekenmerk word deur ‘n gesonde dissipline. ‘n Goeie balans het nog altyd bestaan tussen reëls, voorskrifte en gebruike aan die een kant en billikheid aan die ander kant. Die voortgesette handhawing van hierdie suksesvolle resep, sal dan ook by Bekker ‘n klimaat en atmosfeer verseker waar doeltreffende onderrig, opleiding en opvoeding kan plaasvind.
Die suksesvolle implementering van ‘n dissiplinêre strategie verg dat daar op drie kritiese faktore gefokus moet word, nl.
* Leerlinge,
* Ouers/voogde en
* Personeel

Wat moet elkeen van hierdie rolspelers “reg doen” sodat die strategie doeltreffend geïmplementeer kan word?

GEDRAGSKODE :
1. LEERLINGE :
1.1 GEDRAGSKODE :
As lojale leerling van Hoërskool Bekker, verbind ek my graag tot die volgende :
1. Skooltrots
2. Hoflikheid
3. Eerlikheid
4. Verantwoordelikheid
5. Netheid
6. Die onderwerping aan reëls en gesag
7. Die aanvaarding van tugmaatreëls
8. Verdraagsaamheid en toegeneëndheid teenoor ouers, onderwysers en medeleerlinge.
9. Die missie en die visie van die skool te onderhou.

Aangesien ek glo dat bogenoemde, belangrike boustene van ‘n ordelike en beskaafde samelewing is,
onderneem ek om my ywerig en met entoesiasme, daarvoor te beywer.

1.2 DISSIPLINE EN TUGSTELSEL :

1.4 SKOOLTROTS:
Skooltrots kan slegs ‘n werklikheid word indien die skoolgemeenskap (onderwysers, ouers en leerders) hulself met die skool kan en wil assosieer.
Vereistes vir skooltrots:
1. ‘n Sterk dissiplinêre strategie
2. Individuele sowel as skoolsuksesse
3. Handhawing en vestiging van tradisies.

Om bogenoemde te verwesenlik, kan klem gelê word op:
1. Ontwikkeling van goeie selfdissipline
2. Die toepassing van die skoolreëls
3. Die skep van ‘n gunstige klimaat
4. Aansporing tot sukses en die erkenning daarvan
5. Bemarking van die skool
6. Skepping van nuwe tradisies

1.5 VOORTDURENDE LEERLINGBETROKKENHEID:
Dit is baie belangrik dat leerlinge op ‘n deurlopende basis deel van die proses sal bly.
1. Alle leerlinge en ouers onderteken die gedragskode eenmalig by toelating; en slegs weer indien daar wysigings plaasvind.
2. Alle nuwe leerders onderteken die gedragskode by toelating
3. Die gedragskode moet gereeld onder leerlinge se aandag gebring word.
4. Die strafbeleid (tugstelsel moet jaarliks met alle leerlinge bespreek en aangepas word indien moontlik. (Sien aangehegte lys van oortredings en prosedure)

2. OUERS :
2.1 GEDRAGSKODE :
As lojale ouer van Hoërskool Bekker verbind ek my graag tot die volgende :
2.1.1 Om my te onderwerp aan die algemene reëls en reëlings van die skool.
2.1.2 Om ten alle tyd die beeld van die skool te help bevorder en uit te dra.
2.1.3 Om ‘n betrokke ouer te wees.
2.1.4 Om my finansiële verpligtinge teenoor die skool en/of koshuis na te kom.
2.1.5 Om die dissiplinêre strategie van die skool te handhaaf.
2.1.6 Om aktief mee te help om die karakter en tradisies van die skool te handhaaf.
2.1.7 Om altyd lojaal te wees teenoor die leerkragte van die skool en waar nodig, die korrekte griewe prosedures te volg.
2.1.8 Om my lojaliteit te bevestig deur te alle tyd die belange van die skool te bevorder deur dit wat ek sê en doen.

2.2 KOMMUNIKASIE:
Effektiewe kommunikasie moet ten alle tyd geskied tussen ouers en skool. Ouers kan alleenlik ‘n effektiewe bydrae maak indien hulle ingelig is.
Metodes van kommunikasie:
1. “dit en dat” twee-weekliks; SMS boodskappe.
2. Omsendbriewe ten opsigte van algemene aangeleenthede op ‘n gereelde basis deur die kantoor.
3. Oproepe of briewe aan ouers ten opsigte van individuele aangeleenthede
4. Ouervergaderings
5. Oueraande.
Dit is van groot belang dat ouers ingelig word, veral ten opsigte van individuele probleme by hul kinders. Ouers en onderwysers kan as ‘n span meer effektief wees. Vroegtydige en goeie kommunikasie kan baie probleme voorkom.

2.3 MEDE-VERANTWOORDELIKHEID:
‘n Aanvaarbare dissiplinêre bestel is net haalbaar waar ouers mede-verantwoordelikheid daarvoor aanvaar. Die belangrikheid hiervan moet voortdurend op alle moontlike wyses deur die hoof onder ouers se aandag gebring word.

3. PERSONEEL
As opvoeder by Hoërskool Bekker onderneem ek en verbind ek myself tot die volgende:

3.1 Om ten alle tye :
1. As ‘n rolmodel op te tree en professioneel op te tree
2. Eerlik te wees
3. Hoflik, vriendelik en hulpvaardig te wees teenoor mede-kollegas
4. Binne ‘n span saam te werk
5. Konsekwent en redelik op te tree
6. Lojaal te wees teenoor die skool
7. Bewus te wees van my roeping
8. ‘n Positiewe ingesteldheid te openbaar
9. Die belange van die leerders op die hart te dra deur
- belang te stel
- te bemoedig; en
- te berispe
10. Pligsgetrou te wees
11. Nie op eie belange te konsentreer tot nadeel van die skool nie
12. Skooltrots en toewyding te openbaar.
13. Die skool se missie en visie te onderskryf.

3.2 ERKENNING EN WAARDERING:
Onderwysers, soos alle mense, het ‘n behoefte aan erkenning en om waardering te beleef en dit kan as volg geskied :
* Waardering vanaf leerders
* Waardering vanaf ouers deur ‘n brief op ‘n oproep
* Waardering deur bestuursraad
* Erkenning/waardering deur hoof en mede-kollegas
* Belewing van werksgeluk en milieu
* Skep van ‘n klimaat van stabiliteit en sekerheid.

INTRODUCTION:
The aim of this document is to provide a strategy according to which all aspects of discipline will be
handled.
Hoërskool Bekker has always been known for its discipline. There has always been a healthy balance
between rules, prescriptions and habits on the one hand and fairness and humanity on the other hand.
The continuation of this successful system will ensure an atmosphere where effective teaching, training and education can take place.
The successful implementation of a disciplinary strategy requires focus on three critical factors, viz
* Learners,
* Parents/guardians and
* Teachers

What must each of the role players do so as to effectively implement this strategy?

CODE OF CONDUCT:
1. LEARNERS:
1.1 CODE OF CONDUCT:
As loyal learner of Hoërskool Bekker, I pledge myself to abide by the following:
1. Pride in my school
2. Courtesy
3. Honesty
4. Responsibility
5. Neatness
6. To subject myself to rules and authority
7. The acceptance of disciplinary action
8. Tolerance and affection towards parents, teachers and fellow learners
9. To Subscribe to the mission and vision of the school

As I see the above as the important foundation of an ordered and civilised society, I undertake to adhere to the above aspects and to exert myself for it with enthusiasm :

1.2 DISCIPLINE AND DISCIPLINARY SYSTEM:

1.4 PRIDE IN OUR SCHOOL:
Pride in our school can only become a reality if the school community (teachers, parents and learners) can and will associate themselves with the school.
Conditions for pride in our school:
1. A strong disciplinary strategy
2. Individual as well as school successes
3. Starting and maintaining traditions

To achieve the above, the following is important:

1. Development of self-discipline
2. Applying the school rules
3. Creating a favourable climate
4. Encouragement of success and the acknowledgement thereof
5. Creating new traditions
6. Marketing the school

1.5 CONTINUOUS LEARNER PARTICIPATION:
It is very important that learners stay part of the process:
1. All learners and parents sign the code of conduct at admission and whenever amendments are made.
2. All new learners and their parents sign at admission
3. The learners have to be reminded continually of the code of conduct.
3. The discipline policy has to be discussed annually with the learners and adapted if possible. (See transgressions and procedure attached.)

2. PARENTS:
2.1 CODE OF CONDUCT:
As a loyal parent of Hoërskool Bekker, I gladly commit myself to the following :
2.1.1 To subject myself to the general rules and arrangements of the school
2.1.2 To maintain and enhance the image of the school at all times
2.1.3 To be an involved parent
2.1.4 To fulfil my financial obligations towards the school and/or hostel
2.1.5 To subscribe to the disciplinary strategy of the school.
2.1.6 To actively help to maintain the character and traditions of the school
2.1.7 To be loyal towards the teachers of the school under all circumstances and, if necessary, to follow the correct grievance procedures
2.1.8 To confirm my loyalty by furthering the interest of the school by what I say and do.

2.2 COMMUNICATION:
There should always be effective communication between the school and parents.
Parents can only make an effective contribution if they are informed.
Methods of communication:
1. “this and that” newsletter every fortnight, as well as SMS messages
2. Circulars about general matters on a regular basis from the office
3. Phone calls or letters to parents in connection with individual matters
4. Parent meetings
5. Parents evenings
It is of great importance that parents are informed, especially in connection with problems that their children have. Parents and teachers can be more effective as a team. Early and good communication can prevent problems.

2.3 SHARED RESPONSIBILITY:
An acceptable disciplinary system is only possible if parents take responsibility for it in cooperation
with the school. The importance of this should be brought to the parents’ attention indifferent ways by the principal.

3. STAFF:
As a teacher at Hoërskool Bekker I commit myself to the following:
3.1 At all times I will:
1. Act professionally and be a role model
2. Be honest
3. Be courteous, friendly and helpful to my colleagues
4. Co-operate with the team
5. Be consistent and reasonable
6. Be loyal to the school
7. Be aware of my calling at all times
8. Be positive at all times
9. Have the best interests of the learners at heart by
- being interested
- encouraging them
- reprimanding them.
10. Always do my duty
11. Concentrate on my own interests to the detriment of the school
12. Be proud of the school as well as dedicated
13. Subscribe to the mission and vision of the school

3.2 RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION:
Teachers, like all humans, need appreciation and recognition and it can be achieved as follows :
* Appreciation by the learners
* Appreciation by the parents by a letter or a phone call
* Appreciation by the Governing Body
* Appreciation by the principal and colleagues
* Experiencing job satisfaction
* Creating an atmosphere of stability and security
